UPDATE: the multi-file upload feature with youtube has given me trouble for the 2nd time now and this time using someone else's wifi, so it may take some time to get them all up. I've been asked about how this even works to post so much stuff so quick so here is what I've figured out using the flip video HD mino so far. If anyone has any comments or suggestions for improvement please do pass them along. First, one of the challenges with limited time is that there just isn't much time to go back and do a lot of video editing. and of course you never know what will turn out good, interesting, or funny so I've basically been using the flip video to capture various activities frequently and with limited amounts of time per video. That helps because even a 20 sec video can be 32MB in HD so uploading around the house on a wifi can take a long time. Essentially, Facebook is where I'll plan to post only the best or simplified set of videos while this blog will be for more of an archive. Hopefully Google will allow these to stick around indefinitely but who knows. For folks like Mom & Dad, I really hope you will think more about getting on facebook so you can keep up with those. But this blog will remain wide open for those to access it just isn't meant to be so concise. ok, so what are the steps for this:
1. Take Flip Video with you in your pocket and if you get any downtime or what seems like a fun moment, capture on the video. It takes up to 1 hr before you must move over to computer or risk losing because you have to delete something at 1 hour of storage.
2. If just a video or 2 or 3, you can use the direct USB computer connection to upload direct to Youtube. This saves the step of transferring to the computer first before uploading, but the USB connection can seem slower sometimes than uploading direct from PC disk.
3. Either in Youtube or on disk, watch the clip to figure out what it is so you can include a brief note about each to help anyone out there who is actually going to wade through them..
4. If uploading to facebook, you have to load on pc disk first I think - but not sure - anyway same process essentially.
5. For this blog, copy the embedded link from the particular youtube video into the blog posting. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to do that directly since only the first few parts of the embedded link copy in direct. So I copy the link into Word and then copy over into the blog. Then post and you're done.
