Chance at USTA regional training clinic

So I'll try a post here instead of Facebook. Figure the Facebook crowd probably doesn't want to hear about Chance's tennis as much. So he was invited by USTA to a set of clinics. Like other countries, the USTA is trying to catchup and give special development help to kids. The invite said it was to the top 16 in the state but I'm not sure how they determined that, but he'll be happy to be attending. Chance was the only 7 year old of the 8 boys in his group and he did very well hanging with the kids during the point drills which I failed to get on video. Also accidently deleted some of the best videos I'm afraid. Here is the clip set.

Woodward Academy tennis courts in College Park, GA. Chance takes 2 out of 3 matches in the 10 & under division. The best match was the one he lost where he pushed a 10 year old pretty well considering the crazy winds. Challenge is to come up with something of a weapon past just getting the ball back.

Yesterday's Tech-Duke win

video I shot of the closing minutes of the Tech-Duke game yesterday. It turned into a Tech free throw shooting contest with Duke running a chaotic set of hit-miss plays, usually that's the opposite when these teams play. Have to appreciate any win over Duke...

Chance wins his first tennis tournament

Last weekend Chance played in an 8 & under Quickstart tennis tournament at Windward Lake Club where he does the pre-academy program. He had 3 matches and 2 of the kids were very advanced in their play but he was able to pull out all of them for his first win.

rise and sing

so Steve Fee was one of the first worship leaders we saw at North Point church about a year and a half ago. He has a strong Christian rock sound and if you ever get to attend one of his shows, you will find it amazing for sure. Here is a video someone took at his Hope Rising CD release concert last Sunday at North Point. Fortunately we were seated on the side seats so didn't get in the middle of a ton of screaming teenagers

funny how the timing can be so different between 2 kids in doing something like learning how to ride a bike. Jack just seems to have good pickup of the balance concept...but does that mean we all need to be looking out even more now for him...

Chattanooga lake jumping

Here is Sara jumping off a huge cliff yesterday. She went first. I did jump but the video didn't save. There is facebook video of me on the big rope swing for those of you on facebook...

I overheard the boys early Saturday morning (when I was trying to sleep in). Jack was trying to turn off the alarm, and big brother stepped in to help.

Jack: Well, I pushed the buttons but it didn't work...Is that a 6?
Chance: No, that's a 9
Jack: but, it looks like a 6
Chance: Oh, yeah, I had that problem too. See, look, that's a 6.
Jack: well...
Chance: See look, that's a 5...and you know what comes after 5 right? What comes after 5?
Jack: 6!!

...and then they were off downstairs.
